We returned to Abu Dhabi in October 2015 – this is becoming a habit – staying three nights at the Holiday Inn Downtown, then three nights at the Crowne Plaza.
In each hotel we were upgraded – due to my (sadly, soon to expire) ‘Platinum’ IHG status.
Our room at the Holiday Inn Downtown had been recently refurbished , I think we were the first in there.
I know it’s geeky, but I liked the power points at the bedside for charging iPads, iPhones and so on.
The view from our room over ‘downtown’ was interesting.
And we enjoyed a few drinks in town at The Captains Arms
After a few nights in the Holiday Inn we went to the Crowne Plaza on Yas Island, our room was suitably lavish.
with dramatic views across the mangroves
even at night
The Crowne Plaza is home to Abu Dhabi’s longest bar:
And hosts an excellent Friday brunch, featuring seafood:
Freshly made Sushi
Roast Rib of Beef
Seafood curry and soft-shell crab
And some rather good oysters, served (of course) with a Bloody Mary
What better way to spend a Friday afternoon?
